SHAKYAMUNI BUDDHA
Siddhartha Gautama, who's would
one day become known as Buddha (the awakened), lived in Nepal
during the 6th to 4th century B.C. Siddhartha is a Sanskrit personal name which
translates as - He Who Achieves His Goal. The Sanskrit family name (Gautama)
translates as descendants of Gotama. The teachings of Gautama Buddha are
considered the core of Buddhism. He gave the Four Noble Truths which express
the basic orientation of Buddhism and provide a conceptual framework of the
Buddhist thought, and proposed the Eightfold Path to end suffering. When he
taught, Siddhartha Gautama did not pretend to be God. He said he was just a man
who had found the meaning of life, and that any person can also find the
meaning of life. He is undoubtedly one of the most influential figures in world
history, and his profound teachings have affected everything from a variety to
the faiths to literature to philosophy,both within India and to the farthest
reaches of the Western world.

When we chant this mantra, we are expressing and embodying
the heart-essence. Furthermore, the Buddha mantra is usually recited not just
as a sign of respect and acknowledgement of the Gautama Buddha but also as a
means of entreating the Buddha to help you find the inspiration that you need
to follow in order to attain full enlightenment.

OM MANI PADME HUM
MEANING:
Hail the jewel in the lotus. This is the six syllable Sanskrit
mantra, related to the Bodhisattva of compassion, Avalokitesvara, a
manifestation of the Gautama Buddha in the Sambhogakaya, and His magical mantra
is considered the essence of compassion of the Buddha for all beings.

In all lifetimes, one will meet
with ethical kings, religious kings like His Holiness the Dalai Lama and other
righteous leaders, and by being in such a place where there is a virtuous king
one will have much opportunity to practice spiritual teachings.
One will always meet with
fortunate times and good conditions, which will help your Dharma practice.
Having many positive things happen, it inspires you to practice the spiritual
teachings, to receive spiritual teachings and to meditate.
One will always be reborn in virtuous places where there is a lot of
Dharma practice, where one can make lots of offerings, where there are lots of
temples, where there a lot of holy statues, objects, stupas and so forth. Being
in a place where there are all these holy objects gives one the opportunity to
practice Dharma, to create the cause of happiness, to accumulate merit. And
being in a place where there are many in the city doing practice inspires
oneself to practice the noble path, the cause of happiness.
- One will always receive a perfect human body.
- One will always be able to meet with virtuous friends.
- One will not allow vows of one, morality of one to degenerate.
- The mind of a person will become familiar with the path, with virtue.
- People around you - family, Dharma students, people in the office, and so one - will be harmonious and kind with you.
- You will always have wealth, the means of living.
- Whatever you wish will succeed.
- You will always be protected and served by others.
- In all lifetimes, you will see Buddha and be able to listen to the Dharma.
- By listening to the pure Dharma, you will be able to actualize the profound meaning, emptiness.
- You will always be protected by virtuous devas and nagas.
- Your wealth will not be stolen or taken away by others.

AMITABHA BUDDHA
He is the principal Buddha in the
Pure Land sect, a branch of Buddhism practiced mainly in East Asia, while in
Vajrayana Amitabha is known for his longevity attribute and the aggregate of
distinguishing (recognition) and the deep awareness of individuals. According
to the scriptures, Amitabha possesses infinite merits resulting from good deeds
over countless past lives as a Bodhisattva named Dharmakara. He is translatable
as (Infinite Light), hence Amitabha is often called (The Buddha of Infinite
Light). Amitabha Buddha emanates ruby red light. Red symbolizes love and
compassion.
MANTRA BENEFITS:
Through his efforts, Amitabha
created a pure land called Sukhavati (Sanskrit : possessing happiness).
Sukhavati is situated in the uttermost west, beyond the bounds of our own
world. By the power of his vows, Amitabha has made it possible for all who call
upon him to be reborn into this land, there to undergo instruction by him in
the dharma and ultimately become bodhisattvas and buddhas in their turn (the
ultimate goal of Mahayana Buddhism). From there, these same bodhisattvas and
buddhas return to our world to help yet more people.

MEDICINE BUDDHA
Bhaisajyaguru (also known as The
First Doctor) is the Buddha of healing and medicine in Mahayana Buddhism
tradition, aka the (Medicine Buddha). On achieving Buddhahood, Bhaisajyaguru
became the Buddha of the eastern pure land of Vaiduryanirbhasa (Pure Lapis
Lazuli). There, Bhaisajyaguru is attended to by two Bodhisattvas symbolizing
the light of the sun (Suryaprabha) and the light of the moon (Chandraprabha).
MANTRA BENEFITS:
Practicing this mantra, it cures
us of physical disease, if we chant it 108 times near a glass of water (and
with a correct pronunciation), the water will be blessed with the healing
powers of the mantra. If we recite this mantra every day (minimum five malas, 1
mala=108 repetitions), the mantra can help the practitioner to overcome
physical, mental and spiritual sickness.
